Tasks

The Shop-in-Charge leads workshop operations, managing staff, quality, safety, compliance, certification responsibilities, and on-time delivery. As a key member of the Production Management Team, the role drives performance, productivity, and continuous development. 

  • Lead and coordinate daily workshop activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery targets.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop team members while managing performance and training needs.
  • Perform and certify maintenance work in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate completion and control of maintenance documentation.
  • Allocate workloads and monitor progress to meet project schedules and resource plans.
  • Support cost control, capacity planning, and work package coordination.
  • Drive continuous improvement and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
  • Support customer satisfaction through effective communication and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Level 2 Senior Aircraft Mechanic Authorization
  • Ability to undertake all the requirements of the said position.
  • Have the required Continuation and Human Factors Training together with any other 
    mandatory training as establish from time to time, as well as training in regulations and organisational procedures.
  • Communicate effectively in English both written and verbally.
  • Lead people effectively and to demonstrate the ability to collect and process information, solve problems, and take decisions.
  • Be a team player, open-minded and mature.
  • Strong organisational ability to provide support and deal with a broad variety of issues 
    and prioritise issues.
  • Ability to organize own work on projects within a set framework.
  • Commitment to quality management and compliance.

About Lufthansa Technik Malta Ltd

Lufthansa Technik Malta Ltd. (LTM) was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik AG (92%) and Air Malta (8%). The MRO service provider (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul), based at Malta International Airport in Luqa, provides its customers with line and base maintenance services for short haul and long haul aircraft in the Airbus A320/A330/350 series and Boeing B787. Initially specializing in C Checks and comprehensive aircraft modifications, the company has now significantly expanded its service portfolio following the construction of a 64,000 square meter hangar complex. The spectrum of services offered has grown to encompass extensive maintenance work with wide ranging capabilities including structural and composite fibre repairs, complex testing procedures and comprehensive cabin refits. The 600 strong workforce can work on up to three long haul aircraft or five medium and long haul aircraft at any one time in the new hangar complex, expanded to cater for wide body aircraft. The hangars are used primarily for C Checks and aircraft overhauls. Lufthansa Technik Malta also collaborates with the renowned Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) for the purpose of training and apprenticeship schemes. The strategically favorable location in the Mediterranean region of southern Europe, with its proximity to Africa and to the Arabian Peninsula, gives Lufthansa Technik Malta a special role within the Lufthansa Group. Twenty years after the company's founding and with more than 2,000 checks carried out, the high quality standards, cost efficiency and the shortest possible turnaround times places the Malta facility at the forefront of the MRO industry.
