The key responsibilities and duties of the Lead Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the primary technical contact for a specific product line, supporting customer development, cost analysis, and specification validation.
  • Oversee standards, conduct trend analysis, and coordinate responses to technical queries or changes.
  • Lead technical projects from concept to completion, including planning, risk management, scheduling, and cross-site collaboration.
  • Share best practices, transfer knowledge, and maintain expertise across legacy, current, and future landing gear types.
  • Create and track project plans, ensuring milestones are met and stakeholders are engaged.
  • Escalate time or resource issues to Engineering Management as needed.

The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent aviation experience.
  • Project management skills essential; LEAN or formal PM qualifications desirable.
  • Experience leading technical projects in aviation, ideally MRO and landing gear.
  • Knowledge of aircraft data systems (AMM/IPC/CMM), MRP/SERP (e.g., SAP/AMOS), and airworthiness regulations (21J/21G/145).
  • Strong communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Right to work in the UK; hybrid working with potential travel.
