This position is located at our headquarters in Hamburg.

We are seeking a talented Operations Research Specialist with software development expertise. You will design and implement optimization models and software solutions with a focus on maintenance scheduling and material planning processes. You need to bring a strong background in operations research and mathematical modeling, combined with proven software development capabilities.

In this role, you will play a part in enhancing operational efficiency within the aviation industry, ensuring optimal resource utilization through innovative optimization technologies and data-driven solutions. 

Your responsibilities are:

  • Developing, implementing, and solving complex optimization models using software such as Gurobi, CPLEX, SCIP, or OR-Tools.
  • Building and deploying robust, production-grade optimization algorithms into our operational systems.
  • Utilizing Python and its relevant libraries to perform data analysis, model development, and solution implementation.
  • Deploying and managing solutions on cloud-based computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Designing and implementing containerized solutions, APIs, and microservices to integrate optimization models into our technology stack.
  • Collaborating proactively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business units, to define problems and deliver solutions.

What you should bring to this job:

  • PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
  • academic or industrial experience in applying operations research techniques to maintenance scheduling and material planning
  • proven track record in mathematical modeling and algorithm development with practical implementation and programming experience
  • solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical methods
  • experience in software development with Python, knowledge of tools such as VS Code, PyCharm, git, Jupyter, pip, conda
