Join our multidisciplinary research team "Fuel Quality in Flight Operations" at Hamburg Airport.

As an intern, you will support us in the following tasks in particular:

  • Development of modern laboratory analytics for fuel quality in flight operations
  • Further development of the analytics of aircraft system filters
  • Identification of microbial contamination and biofilms
  • Fluid dynamic evaluation and simulation of two-phase water-fuel systems
  • In the day-to-day operations of the Central Materials Technology department of Lufthansa Technik AG

Laboratory operation

Broad spectrum of aviation laboratory analytics.

Debris analytics

Particle analysis from the fuel system.

Filter analytics

Investigation of the various contaminants in fuel filters.

Fluid analytics

2-phase sample in the investigation.

At the time of the internship at least in the third semester of a degree course in biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering or comparable courses.

  • Enrollment for the entire period of the internship (current certificate of enrollment and a written proof of mandatory internship must be enclosed with the application) or the internship between the Bachelor's and Master's degree program (Gap Year)
  • Creativity and innovative spirit
  • Enjoy structured and independent work
  • Ability to process and present complex contexts convincingly
  • Team and communication skills
  • Confident handling of the common MS Office programs (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • Very good written and spoken German & English skills
