Trainee Electroplater

The main purpose of this position is to assist the department to load or unload electroplating equipment and assist the Electroplaters directly with day-to-day tasks. The successful candidate will handle all of the various aspects of the plating process including cleaning, plating and rinsing tanks.

The duties of the Trainee Electroplater include:

  • Proven ability to understand and interpret process standard practices, drawings and overhaul manuals
  • Ability to undertake Material Handling to include Slings and Jigs
  • Ability to undertake surface preparation by Grit Blasting techniques
  • Ability to undertake component stripping, surface preparation, masking and electro plating of components requiring Cadmium plating
  • Ability to undertake Alocrom processes
  • Ability to complete work in a manner that satisfies Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
  • An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental procedures
  • Responsible for actions related to the COMAH emergency plan and any other requirements necessary to comply with the implementation of the COMAH plan
  • You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
  • You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience
  • All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures

The ideal Trainee Electroplater should meet the following requirements:

  • Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
  • Illustrate previous knowledge and experience working within an engineering facility
  • Good knowledge, awareness and understanding of PPE
  • Previous use of overhead cranes and forklifts would be desirable, but not essential
  • Desirable for the applicant to have worked within the aviation environment (not essential)
  • Able to use their own initiative
  • Good communicator
  • Good planning, organisation and administration skills, PC literate
  • The position shift pattern is 4 on 4 off which will require flexibility in working hours including working weekends
  • Candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted
  • Full Training will be provided and Mandatory Training will be required
  • Physical Requirements:
    - The job requires the applicant to stand for a prolonged amount of time with a number of breaks throughout the day
    - The position and process involves lifting heavy aircraft components
