Internship IT Sustainability

We are looking for a dedicated IT Sustainability Intern to join our team to develop and implement sustainable IT solutions. IT and aviation currently emit approximately the same amount of CO2 globally. However, IT emissions are projected to increase in the coming years, approximately 3% to 14% of global emissions, it is essential to implement strategies to reduce our IT carbon footprint.

As part of the IT sustainability strategy that the company is pursuing, this exciting and varied internship will give you a holistic insight into the topic of sustainability in the realm of IT. This includes research work on sustainability topics and identifying new fields of action.

  • Structure IT Sustainability ideas
  • Support in building a IT sustainability community
  • Create communication measures (e.g. presentations, workshops, campaigns)
  • Independently contribute own ideas to link sustainability and IT
  • Research opportunities for improvement for IT Sustainability at Lufthansa
  • Contribute to ongoing projects to lower the environmental impact of IT

The internship is scheduled to start in mid August 2024 for 6 months. The internship is compensated.

Basic knowledge on the topics "sustainability", “energy efficiency” or "IT" are of benefit, but not mandatory. It's your passion and dedication to drive us forward which counts!

  • At the date of the internship you have completed the third semester  
  • Enrollment for the entire period of the internship (current enrollment certificate and certificate of mandatory internship must be attached to the application) 
  • Team player with good cooperation skills and hands-on mentality
  • Good communication skills and sustainable thinking
  • Confident handling of MS Office
  • Affinity for Sustainability topics in IT
  • Fast comprehension, careful and service-orientated way of working even under time pressure.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge in German is of advantage
